iMOVE success at 15th ITS Australia Awards
The 15th Annual ITS Australia Awards were held in Perth last night, and while we tender our congratulations to all winners and finalists, we’re very pleased to report that a few iMOVE projects, and an iMOVE board member, were amongst those receiving awards.
Excellence in Research and Development Award
Winner: Smart Freeway Live Decision Support Tool
Main Roads Western Australia, Aimsun
This category is sponsored by iMOVE (but not judged by us!) and, “Acknowledges and congratulates R&D activity undertaken solely or in collaborative research programs that recognises an organisation for its groundbreaking transport technology, research, development or innovation.”
The Smart Freeway Live Decision Support Tool will enable operators to understand the conditions on the network and identify and respond to incidents when they occur. The project will develop a proxy for the STREAMS ramp metering algorithm, closely reflecting the smart motorway Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), thus enabling operators to accurately predict the operation of the network an hour into the future.

Intelligent Mobility Award
Winner: See Me: Bus Signalling App
SAGE Automation
This project was one of the two that have been 100% funded by iMOVE via the Impact Extension Program. The See Me app is designed to empower people when using a bus by making it more accessible for all. With existing trials in place this project will enable the developers of See Me the opportunity to expand the app’s current functionality and deliver the following key project objectives:
- Understand Australia-wide public transport authorities’ readiness for the See Me app
- Expansion from existing proof of-concept trials to a scaled solution
- Increase functionality in the app, including making it work for other modes of public transport
- Understand market commercial readiness to scale the solution

Excellence in Transport Data Award
Winner: Optimise Replacement Bus Services During Network Disruptions: A Data-Driven Approach
Transport for NSW, University of Technology Sydney
This project aimed to develop a proof-of-concept tool for predicting replacement bus needs during unexpected network disruptions, which will aid in making informed decisions and improving customer satisfaction while managing replacement service expenses.
Now complete, this project’s objectives were met with the development of the Emergency Bussing Demand Estimation Tool, which uses historical on-demand and travel time data to enable Transport for NSW to make evidence-based decisions. Through use of this new tool the impact of disruptions is minimised, and the costs of emergency bus costings are reduced by a shift to spare capacity on alternative routes and public transport modes.

ITS Woman of the Year Excellence Award 2025
Winner: Dr Miranda Blogg, Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads
Last, but definitely not least, is this inaugural award, justly won by Miranda, who has to date logged in more than 20 years in transport in both the private and public sectors.
Since 2013 she has held various senior roles at TMR, and is currently its Director of Safer Roads. Highlights include her work in leading the Cooperative and Automated Vehicle Initiative (CAVI), and the Ipswich Connected Vehicle Pilot. Miranda also happens to be an iMOVE board member.
Said Miranda on her LinkedIn profile, “I am deeply honoured to receive the inaugural ITS Women of the Year award. This recognition is not just a career highlight, but a reflection of the fabulous team and TMR leadership that has supported and challenged me – creating an environment where we can collaborate, push boundaries and drive innovation.
A special thanks to ITS Australia and Q-Free for championing this award, creating a moment to celebrate and reflect on the progress of women in transport technology.”
