Predicting traffic congestion one IoT dataset at a time
Rusul Abduljabbar and Dr Hussein Dia of the Swinburne University of Technology spoke to several road authorities who told them that while there was plenty of historical and real-time traffic data out there, there was no model available that could inform them about their biggest pain point – what traffic would look like in the next 60 minutes. So Rusul began developing a model for forecasting traffic conditions with high-resolution accuracy for predicting speeds and volumes during peak and non-peak hours.

Australia’s largest electric bus fleet rolled out in Sydney’s Inner West
Staying in Sydney, and in the world of the bus, 40 net zero-emission buses are being rolled out in the Inner West this month. “Ultimately over the next decade, we’re planning to replace our entire 8000 bus fleet with electric buses,” NSW Transport Minister Rob Stokes said.
