Volvo to go all-electric in Australia by 2026
The headline says it all, really. I think the deadline is not just for Australia, rather it’s a worldwide target. It’s no internal combustion engine cars, no hybrids, it’s all EVs. Volvo Australia boss Stephen Connor is quoted throughout this article.

This pop-up charger has been installed about 1.5 kilometres away from where I’m sitting right now. It is, I think, certainly a step forward from extension cords strung in trees, or taped to the footpath. I posted this article a few days ago on the local Facebook group, and judging from the comments this type of solution is adjudged 50% positive, 50% negative.

News of various happenings in the world in this area. “Barcelona is developing car-free zones and New York is scaling up its car-free days. London is planning to expand the boundaries of a low emission zone and Beijing has a license plate lottery to decide who is allowed to drive. Local authorities complain that cars are too large, too dirty and too dangerous for modern cities.” There’s also a quick mention regarding microvehicles for freight delivery.

How IKEA’s Electric Delivery Fleet Is Starting To Take Shape in Australia
Story number 1 about furniture giant IKEA. This one’s local, about the company’s (so far) 10 electric delivery vehicles in operation within the Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne metropolitan areas, picking up furniture and delivery items from distribution centres.

IKEA story number 2, this one emanating from the USA. “Kodiak Robotics Inc. has started piloting autonomous freight deliveries in Texas in cooperation with Ikea Supply Chain Operations, with IKEA products transported seven days a week using an autonomous heavy-duty truck.”
