Vale Gary Liddle
It’s a heavy-hearted day at iMOVE as we sadly have news that Gary Liddle, our former Chairman, passed away last night. Our thoughts go out to his family and the many, many colleagues in the transport sector who benefited from his energy and his wisdom.
A giant of the transport industry, and a friend and mentor to so very many, as has been noted Gary has left us well before his time.
Gary had a long and illustrious career in transport, with a focus on Melbourne what with his more than 40 years at VicRoads, but also on the national stage with his time as a Director at Roads Australia, Chair at Austroads, Head of Government Relation for Placie, on the board and subsequently Chairman at at iMOVE, and a role as Enterprise Professor, Transport, at the University of Melbourne.
He was awarded the Order of Australia in 2017, for “… distinguished service to public administration in the Victorian transport sector through leadership in policy direction, infrastructure development, road safety and regulatory reform.”
A life well-lived, with a strong commitment to community and charity, and a man that will be much-missed. Vale Gary.
