MaaS in rural and regional areas
iMOVE held a webinar on 11 December 2023 to discuss the findings and outcomes from the MaaS blueprint design for regional towns and rural hinterlands project. The recording of the project outcome webinar is embedded below.
About the webinar
Transport services in regional areas are vital for communities, but the delivery of such services presents particular challenges. With the rise and success of Mobility as a Service in more urban areas, the possibility arises of such a model to meet needs of smaller communities.
The webinar presented the outcomes of a recently completed project with Transport for NSW and the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at the University of Sydney Business School: Design of a Regional Town and Rural Hinterland (RTRH) MaaS Blueprint.
The project collected data from key regional stakeholders to understand the particular needs and what types of services could contribute to a regional MaaS offering. This includes using flexible route-based public transport that could include cars as part of the vehicle fleet. A wrap-up of the project, and all final reports and associated documents is available at: What should MaaS be in regional towns and rural hinterlands?
