WEBINAR: Our changing transport and mobility workforce
DATE: 26 April 2023
TIME: 1.00pm AEST
There is wide-spread recognition that our workforce is changing due to digitalisation and automation. This fundamental shift affects the skills that are needed by businesses generally and more specifically in transport and mobility. The shift needs to be understood on a deeper level to ensure that individuals have the right skills for future jobs, and to mitigate future challenges and impediments to our use of advanced technologies in Australia.
This webinar, Our changing transport and mobility workforce – understanding and addressing future skills gaps, will present the findings of a recently completed research study by Swinburne University of Technology, which was supported by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communication and the Arts and iMOVE.
The study examined workforce digitalisation and automation in Australia and overseas, including an analysis of international best practice for generating an optimal workforce to support transport digitalisation.
A comprehensive stakeholder survey with Australian businesses and employees enabled the team to understand the challenges ahead in an Australian context and develop a series of recommendations on how best to navigate the transformation of the industry. This includes options for how to retrain or cross/up skill employees.
Join us to hear from the researchers about their findings and recommendations and discuss what we need to do from here.
Questions or discussion suggestions can be submitted on the registration form.
