Exploring the environmental impacts of CAVs in Australia webinar

On Thursday 19 March 2026, iMOVE held a webinar looking at outcomes from the Environmental impacts of Connected and Automated Vehicles project. A recording of the webinar is embedded below.
Background
As Australia moves closer towards a future shaped by connected and automated vehicles (CAVs), important questions remain about how this transition will affect transport and the broader environment.
This webinar will present recent research examining how this shift could influence emissions and other sustainability factors through changes in travel behaviour, infrastructure demand, congestion management and transport system effectiveness in the Australian context.
Drawing on a literature review, stakeholder insights, and scenario analysis, the project considers likely Australian impact of CAV implementation and the policy settings required to optimise benefits while avoiding unintended environmental consequences.
A panel discussion and Q&A will follow the presentation, we encourage audience questions.
