Twelve of England’s regional mayors back plan for ‘national active travel network’
“Twelve of England’s regional mayors have signed up to an unprecedented plan to create a “national active travel network”, focusing initially on helping children to walk, cycle or scoot to school safely.
The scheme, which involves all non-London regional mayors other than one from Reform UK, is intended to fit into wider efforts to devolve transport planning, working with Active Travel England (ATE) to implement schemes they think would help their area.”

“The Chicago Department of Transportation today released the Chicago Cycling Strategy, outlining a community-driven approach to expanding Chicago’s bike network and creating a more equitable, safe, and inviting city for cycling. With a focus on providing low-stress options, working with community stakeholders, and filling gaps in the citywide network, this strategy will make Chicago a better place for cycling and help create a more connected, healthy, and sustainable city. CDOT will be designing and implementing 150 miles of bikeways in the coming years – the vast majority of which are low-stress – with several projects beginning installation this spring.”

Australian EV sales surge to record 10.3 pct share, as Tesla, BYD and Geely dominate
“EV sales in 2025 have reached a new high in Australia, driven by surging interest in models offered by Chinese makers BYD and Geely, and a rebound in the Tesla Model 3.
According to data supplied by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) and the Electric Vehicle Council (EVC), a record 13,169 battery electric vehicles were sold in Australia in June, delivering a record market share of 10.3%.”

There’s been some movement in Australia in the share e-scooter space. “Leading international e-scooter operators Neuron Mobility and Beam Mobility have signed a preliminary agreement as they work towards a merger that will solidify their micromobility leadership in Asia Pacific.”
