Webinar: Optimising electric bus fleet charging
On 17 March 2025 iMOVE held a webinar to present findings and outcomes from the Charging requirements for Melbourne’s electric bus fleet, a project on which it collaborated with the Centre for New Energy Technologies (C4NET) and RMIT University. A recording of the webinar is available below.
Electrification is an important part of achieving reductions in transport emissions, but requires infrastructure and planning for successful roll out. This is especially true of heavy vehicles which place significant demand for power on the grid through weight and high levels of use.
Effective public transport fleet electrification planning needs accurate estimation of the charging demand, while taking into account factors such as penetration levels, routes and various charging strategies, e.g., depot-based or en-route charging in transit stops.
After the presentation is a Q&A and panel discussion to answer any questions, and also to discuss the wider progress with vehicle electrification and impact on the grid.
Speakers
- Dr Ali Moradi Amani: Senior Research Fellow, RMIT University
- James Seymour: CEO, C4NET
- Ian Christensen: Managing Director, iMOVE Australia
