COVID-19 and transport
First let me say, I hope you’re all OK out there. The world is going through tough times and a tough examination right now, and that does extend into the world in which we all specialise, transport.
As iMOVE Managing Director Ian Christensen said in his Keeping innovation happening in challenging times article yesterday, ‘COVID-19 was a simultaneous surprise for the whole world so there is no possibility to copy a solution that someone else has already found. Because everyone faces the same problem, we believe it is useful to quickly share the good ideas that are emerging for adaptation of local transport systems to the current crisis.’
In line with that, here are endeavours and content that might help ideas along.
Linkedin group – COVID-19 & Transport: Responses to the crisis
We’ve started a new group page on Linkedin, called COVID-19 & Transport: Responses to the crisis. We created this as a forum allowing professionals in the transport industry, plus researchers, start-ups and more, to come together and share ideas to implement, or suggestions for future investigation, on how to help transport adapt in this health crisis the world currently finds itself in.
There’s news stories in there, along with resources people find, and we hope it generates discussion on the page, and in general. To join, visit the COVID-19 & Transport: Responses to the crisis page, and request to join the group. I’ll approve your applications as they come in – we hope to see, and hear from, a lot of you there.
Survey: The Impact of COVID-19 on Travel
Our friends at the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at the University of Sydney have put together a survey looking for information on the impact that COVID-19 is having on your travel activity. It will help ITLS formulate positions on what’s happening now, and its work in helping the industry plan for the future.
It will take no longer than 10 minutes to compete the survey, and all responses are anonymous, and the data confidential.
Visit the Survey: The Impact of COVID-19 on Travel page to take part. The survey is open now, and closes on 14 April 2020.
